This work represents a life-size German Shepherd created with thousands of meticulously arranged glass beads. The sculpture infuses realism with a fantastical quality, as the dog appears ferocious while also shimmering and otherworldly. Through her sculpture, Lou elevates glass beadwork, often seen as a lower art form associated with craft, into the realm of contemporary art. In this way, she draws attention to the value of manual labor and craftsmanship.
