Evan Holloway, Tall Weed
2016
Evan Holloway creates inventive sculptures that blend modernist influences with everyday materials and subjects. Tall Weed is an example of his sculptural recreations of potted plants and lamps created from steel, cardboard, and an instant papier-mâché called CelluClay. At once somewhat naturalistic but also clearly handcrafted, the work juxtaposes a sense of organic growth with artificial illumination, exploring relationships between nature, human experience, and the objects we interact with in daily life.
