Fernando Campana and Humberto Campana, Banquete chair

2002

The Campana brothers, a design team based in São Paulo, Brazil, created this chair out of stuffed animals. This sculpture reveals many of the themes that run through the designers' work: their selection of found materials, use of familiar objects, and commentary on excessive global consumerism. While the chair is both comfortable and functional, it also combines a sense of whimsy with the recognition of rampant consumption.
