Alison Saar, Roi des reves [King of dreams]
1991
Roi des Rêves features an elusive figure on a wood panel with palm trees, created from wire, tin, and found objects including a key. Saar’s art challenges viewers to reflect on a multiplicity of cultural narratives as her practice combines African American, Western, and Folk art histories. Saar’s works acknowledge craft traditions and the modern use of found objects, creating a confluence of past and present.
