With a pleasant visage but gargantuan in size, Yoshitomo Nara’s Your Dog is a deceptively loveable giant. The potential vulnerability of Nara’s pure white and sleepy-eyed dog is tempered by the sculpture’s scale. The work defies cuddling due to its mass and its slick and unyielding fiberglass surface. A work imbued with a youthful perspective, the sculpture becomes a pet of childhood dreams—a perfect, protective colossus of wondrous proportion.
