Keith Sonnier, Fora (from the Oldowan Series)
2009
The linear form of neon allows Sonnier to draw in space with light and color, while the diffuseness of light enables his work to interact on varied architectural planes. Fora is among a series of wall works that reference Sonnier’s earlier investigations that combined cloth, neon light, and visible electrical circuitry. The undulating neon tubing studded with reflectors creates a sculpture that visually lifts off the wall with an interplay of shadow, light, and structure.
