Robert Therrien, No Title
ca. 1985
Robert Therrien plays with scale to invite viewers to experience objects in new and unexpected ways. The small-scale sculpture resembling a mushroom requires viewers to examine the work closely with attention to detail and nuance in the same way as one would natural history specimens or other objects of scientific study. The work prompts viewers to reconsider the nature of art and its relation to the everyday world through the manipulation of scale.
