In this sculpture, a wooden door and a carpet remnant with painted spots lean against the gallery wall. Sibony’s works are barely recognizable as art, challenging many of the expectations that artworks should convey skill, craftsmanship, or beauty. By using simple forms, he allows meaning to be open-ended. The door recalls a metaphor for transition and passage while the carpet is suggestive of the common and mundane.
