Serge Attukwei Clottey, Hot Summer
2021
Hot Summer belongs to Clottey’s body paintings made on cork board, with paint and duct tape. He has described his use of duct tape in paintings as similar to the way a tailor might assemble clothing. Often working against gender norms, a very contentious matter in the artist’s home country of Ghana, many of Clottey’s paintings depict female subjects and exaggerated femininity.
